Overall
review:
Perc tree ash
catchers aren’t exactly new.
The first
example I saw was a prototype design from Lux, which was a
beautiful piece, but unavailable to most collectors.
Seeing the
potential for this design, I actually had a similar piece
commissioned by another tube manufacturer, and it performed very
well.
Toro also saw
the potential in this style, and after a couple of R&D
prototypes, they introduced the “Trash catcher”.
This is latest
incarnation of the perc ash catcher and is one of the coolest to
date.
It is built
from a 5mmx50mm tube and, true to the Toro family, is solid as a
rock.
The 3 diffused
arms add a very noticeable level of filtration to any tube, and
the open ends do not get clogged with debris.

The rear disc
acts as a splashguard and does an excellent job of preventing
any spillover, without restricting the piece.

The heavy
walled joints resist chipping and provide a perfect wobble-free
seal.

This is not a
whimpy ash catcher, but rather a solid heavy piece that may tip
light, thin or shorter tubes.
Toro tubes
aren’t known as thin, weak tubes, and are as strong as they
come.
They are thick
and beefy and not prone to damage.
The trash
catcher follows in this family tradition.
Performance is
at the head of the class.
This piece
flows like a river and adds no drag other than the resistance of
the added water chamber.
It does a
fantastic job of trapping any nasty particles of ash and burned
debris and adds perc tree filtration for any set up it to which
it is added.
Angle and
balance is true, with the trash catcher holding the slide at a
leveled position.
It’s not
obtrusive into the users space, and blends well with 20inch or
taller tubes.

Overall, this
is a fantastic piece.
If you are a
Toro fan, or a collector looking for the next step in perc ash
catchers, the Toro trash catcher is for you.
I can see
several more of these in my near future.
Toro has
really nailed it with this piece… and that’s no BULL.
